Job Description

Located in Woodward, Iowa

This position requires a Class C CDL with passenger endorsement within 6 months of hire.

Work as assigned by Vocational Supervisor and Activity Specialists in the Vocational and Activity Program areas, providing on-going training for clients and staff. Instructs, leads, directs, and monitors work tasks for clients to ensure quality work.

Serves as a lead staff to guide and mentor Resident Treatment Workers in supporting the work of the clients. Checks finished client work assignments for accuracy and quality. Instructs clients and shapes behaviors in the area of work, social, and interpersonal behaviors, so clients learn acceptable conduct necessary for successful community integration. Structure work areas to encourage most efficient performance as requested by Activities Specialist.

Assure all monies, receipts, and documentation of vocational/leisure transactions are completed per established procedures. Assist with community outings and large group activities on campus. Communicate with Activity Specialist on client progress and performance. Communicate any staff issues or staffing concerns with Vocational RTS. Ensure OSHA regulations/ICF/ID/ WRC polices are in compliance. Work in a variety of work/activity areas as needed.

Serve as part of the IDT to recognize client’s preference and identify supports needed. Give input on supports needed to enhance client skills in vocational, social, and in other related areas. Assist at houses as needed following all ICF/ID regulations and WRC policies Assure house schedules and zoning operations are followed according to established pattern.

Assure clients continual growth in dietary skills, following the established dietary policies and procedures, utilization of adaptive equipment and other client related programs materials. On your assigned group follow the schedule of self-help, domestic skills, Leisure skills and other skill acquisition programs. Data will be collected and recorded on assigned clients. Assist with community outings.

Administer treatment, medications to client as prescribed as trained. Other Duties as Assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Experience equal to eighteen months of full time work as a nursing or therapeutic assistant in a health care facility or other facility for the intellectually disabled, mentally ill, elderly, physically ill or disabled;

OR

any equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of post high school education (thirty semester hours or equivalent academic units) with an emphasis in nursing and/or the social or behavioral sciences for one year of experience to a maximum substitution of one year.
