American Equity Sr Reporting Specialist in West Des Moines, Iowa



The Sr Reporting Specialist is responsible for using various production systems such as PSQL, Salesforce and SQL Studio to develop and fulfill moderate and complex data and reporting needs across the business. This role includes the ability to organize and modify data into a consumable format.


  • Identifies source system and resources for collecting accurate data for a variety of reports

using multiple data base systems.

  • Coordinates database report function for the Operations organization by efficiently navigating the various production systems in use for the purpose of mining data from them. I.E. SQL, Salesforce, PSQL, SQL Studio. Joins common table expressions in SQL.

  • Performs data extraction, manipulation and analysis to drive business results.

  • Develops and maintains reports, dashboards, metrics and illustrations based on established requirements to drive production, customer service and key business strategies; provides data gathered in a usable format as requested or on an on-going basis to department teams and leadership.

  • Conducts report testing and validation and prepares supporting documentation.

  • Meets reporting and analysis deadlines specified with data requests.

  • Stays current with system updates and changes.

  • Stays up to date with changes in IT policies and database updates.

  • Designs and creates effective and efficient methods for displaying complex data and metrics across all operations.

  • Organizes and aggregates data from multiple data sources into a usable format.

  • Maintains data and reporting change log.

  • Understands and ensures data governance internal policies.

  • Works closely with teams across operations to understand business needs/develop a plan to meet expectations and requirements.

  • Provides mentoring and coaching to other members on team.

  • Preforms other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance or other related field of study; plus a minimum of two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Strong MicroSoft Office tool skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Knowledge of SQL, Sales Force, PSQL, SQL Studio
