Athene's SEC Reporting team is growing! This brand new role will report to the SEC Reporting Manager, but work independently with peers and leaders across the organization to prepare and analyze the company’s SEC financial statements, management reports, and related financial statement disclosures.
Perform GAAP financial statement preparation and/or complex accounting calculations.
Coordinate work requirements and deadlines from internal departments.
Research and resolve variances and inconsistencies noted in information by conducting initial investigation and applying accounting techniques.
Respond to other departmental requests involving financial information.
Helps prepare all SEC filing requirements for 10Q and 10K financial statements.
Ensure financial statements and supporting footnotes adhere to GAAP requirements.
Research and interpret SEC and GAAP accounting guidance for disclosures.
Complete analytics for financial statements and related disclosures.
Complete SEC and GAAP reporting disclosure checklist to ensure appropriate compliance.
Implement GAAP accounting policy for new and complex business transactions and new and complex accounting guidance.
Assist with annual external audits and examinations including the preparation of work papers, analysis of data, and information gathering.
Assist with other finance projects as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience is required
5+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience is required; insurance industry and/or public accounting experience is preferred, but not required
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to draw conclusions from research and report on findings.
Ability and desire to communicate with other departments to get critical data and complete research is key for this role
Must be proficient with MS Office products such as Word and Excel.
Experience with Workiva’s Wdesk application preferred.
Experience with Oracle, Essbase, and Hyperion preferred.
Completion of or interest in obtaining CPA and/or FLMI designations.
