Athene Senior Regulatory Compliance Analyst in West Des Moines, Iowa

Purpose:

The Regulatory Compliance team exists to perform necessary duties to assist Athene’s compliance with rules and regulations, oversee the coordination of market conduct examinations and respond to regulatory inquiries.

Accountabilities:

  • Respond to inquiries from regulators involving market conduct activity and regulatory surveys; complete quality assurance and monitoring reviews and, complete other tasks as assigned by the team manager.

  • Review and interpret insurance regulations and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Assist in the development of strategies to address compliance changes within the organization, communicate changes to the appropriate internal and external customers/departments and coordinate with those departments to ensure implementation.

  • Assist with the management of the market conduct exam process through coordination of examination responses with regulators and company representatives.

  • Compare Athene’s compliance standards to current laws and regulations, as well as to generally accepted practices within the industry.

  • Identify compliance exposures and drive/implement solutions to reduce financial exposure, from a litigation and regulatory perspective.

  • Monitor and track regulatory filings across the company.

  • Prepare and respond to the Market Conduct Annual Statement by collecting and analyzing company data and filing the report with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

  • Recommend changes to Athene's internal controls when change is deemed necessary to protect the best interests of the company and lead related projects.

  • Research and provide recommendations to management to address compliance related risks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 4+ years of progressively responsible insurance or financial compliance and/or legal experience.

  • Previous compliance knowledge acquired by work experiences within a compliance business unit or related business unit.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to draw conclusions from research or data collection, and to report on those findings in multiple formats (e.g., written, spoken) in a timely and appropriate manner to diverse audiences, including senior management.

  • ​W orking knowledge of regulatory requirements as they pertain to annuities and life insurance.

  • Familiarity with key aspects of insurance administration.

  • Good organizational, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

  • PC skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and other applicable software.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent educational or employment experience.
