The Senior Scrum Master is responsible for strong leadership and delivery on a daily basis. Focuses include coaching and leading development teams in Agile values and frameworks as well as scheduling and facilitating Scrum Team activities such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups and sprint retrospectives. As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for holding Scrum Team members accountable for their commitments and ensuring transparency of the Scrum Teams activities, impediments, setbacks and successes to key stakeholders. This position will play a key role in the planning and ongoing improvement of Scrum practices in the organization.
Serves as a Scrum Master on one or more scrum teams and manages the day to activity and delivery of the team.
Works with the Project Manager on projects with cross functional dependencies.
Assists in educating and training employees at all levels on Agile principles and frameworks.
Assists the Scrum Team in understanding backlog management techniques such as refinement and relative estimation.
Coaches the team to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and suitable for the team and organization.
Facilitates Scrum ceremonies effectively, on cadence, while ensuring team participation (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews/Demos, Sprint Retrospectives and Sprint Planning).
Guides teams through the implementation of Scrum and provides training as needed.
Guides the development team in self-organization and cross-functionality.
Helps improve the team’s software development and delivery through a deliberate focus on continuous improvement and learning culture.
Onboards and mentors new Scrum Masters with less experience.
Qualifications and Experience:
5+ years’ experience in a Scrum Master role for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum practices.
Proven leadership skills and the ability to drive teams in delivering on commitments.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of the Scrum framework and Agile techniques such as user stories, relative estimation, velocity, burn-downs, etc.
Demonstrated experience creating and implementing process improvement initiatives that align with agile best practices.
Demonstrated knowledge of large program/project management and scaled Agile methodologies.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience leading organizational transformations to Agile methodologies.
Knowledge of Agile frameworks and techniques such as XP, Kanban, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, etc.
Knowledge of coaching development teams in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood.
Bachelor's Degree and/or Scrum Master Certification preferred.
