Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company RATING ANALYST in West Des Moines, Iowa
Working on an empowered agile team, the rating analyst creates and maintains accurate and efficient rating within the rating engine used by various systems.
This position can be performed at our Grinnell or West Des Moines campuses; or Work-From-Home if based in one of the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Collaborates with various stakeholders to identify business objectives, elicit rating requirements and arrive at a solution with a high-risk mitigation.
Responsible for design, development and implementation of rating algorithms for new or existing products.
Setup tables with required factors and build required rules for new and existing products.
Analyzes the rating implementation structure to ensure the ideal solution is in place to accommodate changes as the business evolves.
Ability to work with agile teams and build business relationships while acting with diplomacy and consideration towards business value.
Provide production support and solutions for defects.
Consults Product Owner when business priorities conflict or needs change.
Educates internal stakeholders in both one-on-one and group settings to ensure rating processes are understood, applied and trusting relationships are built.
Remains current with changes in career field and evaluates the feasibility of incorporating different techniques into new and supported applications.
Contributes to product planning using Agile methodologies and participates in ensuring stories are complete, accurate and ready to be developed before the team commits to them.
Collaborates and takes ownership of team delivery to ensure highest probability of success for the team.
Adheres to work intake, prioritization, change management, architecture governance and other required best practices of Grinnell Mutual.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in business related or technology related field and 3-5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Exhibits strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to make decisions when presented with ambiguity.
Exhibits a continuous improvement mindset towards all duties.
Shares expertise and is willing to educate others adding to the total technical capabilities of Grinnell Mutual.
Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, schedule and meet deadlines while concurrently managing multiple tasks. Must be able to work with multiple interruptions.
Working knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance preferred. Willingness to develop a working knowledge of industry and Grinnell Mutual specific business practices. Must be able to appropriately apply learned knowledge as it relates to the responsibilities of the position.
Ability to create and maintain a variety of rating analysis documents.
Experience with planning to assist in shaping project timelines, balancing business needs and adapting to changing priorities for multiple projects varying in size and complexity.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to document and share knowledge with others. Must be able to work with audiences of various levels of ability about the subject matter and confirm knowledge transfer.
Demonstrated oral, written and presentation skills to both technical and non-technical personnel. Exhibits self-assurance and a creative aptitude.
Ability to work in a harmonious manner with co-employees, agents, vendors, and leaders.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to keep regular work schedule and maintain regular, predictable attendance.
Ability to represent Grinnell Mutual at select professional conferences approximately 1-2 times per year. May include overnight stay and travel.

The position is within a Grinnell Mutual location with an office environment with a noise level typical of an office setting. The position may require an individual to sit for long periods of time at a computer monitor. Requires visual acuity and repetitive movement is involved.
