We are looking for a principal engineer that will be dedicated to securing the computing environment by centering on identity as the gateway to legitimate and illegitimate authentication. This position will advance identity protection through the intensive collection, testing, tracking, analysis, and remediation of weak and exposed credentials. The preferred candidate possesses extensive knowledge in identity and threat intelligence collection of compromised credentials to identify risk mitigation opportunities. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have familiarity with various Identity and access data elements and various IAM functions.


Primary responsibilities include:

• Lead design of technical countermeasures to address critical risks within networks, identity platforms and other systems

• Engage with ICS and WFT stakeholders to steward the implementation of security countermeasures

• Shape password policy through evidenced-based password audits, mature detection of exposed credentials within the computing environment, and policy recommendations to harden existing controls relative to identity protection

• Leverage knowledge of critical protocols (DNS, DHCP, etc.) to assess security risk; design and implement technical countermeasures to address identified risks

• Engage with stakeholders internal and external to Wells Fargo to collect and disseminate actionable threat intelligence

• Engage with enterprise stakeholders to completed targeted assessments on identity and authentication platforms; collaborate with stakeholders to design and deliver solutions to mitigate identified risks

• Effectively communicate technical findings to audiences including senior bank leadership and technical teams at appropriate level of depth

• Collaborate with Cyber Threat Management, Cyber Threat Fusion Center, threat hunting, and content development teams to improve the efficacy of prevention, detection, and response capabilities

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience; or 10+ years of experience in a technical management role

  • 10+ years of information technology experience

  • 5+ years of risk identification and documentation experience

  • 4+ years of cyber threat intelligence experience

Desired Qualifications

  • A Masters degree or higher in computer science or finance

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience

  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management

  • Knowledge and understanding of control standards/solutions and technical baselines

  • 2+ years of experience performing Linux/Unix/Windows Server, or security device, builds and configuration

  • Experience with highly confidential threat-related case management

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

  • Outstanding problem solving skills

  • Ability to think creatively to find innovative solutions to complex analytical questions

  • Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management

  • Solid conflict management and decision making skills

  • Strong customer relationship management skills

  • Ability to negotiate and facilitate issue resolution

Other Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years UNIX security knowledge

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or other relevant certifications

  • Experience in identity and access management implementation and integration

  • Advanced Information Security technical skills and understanding of information security practices and policies

  • Strong knowledge of technology with emphasis on the following: development operations, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), (including quality assurance, problem and incident management, configuration management, application infrastructure services (e.g. middleware), platform management, information security architecture, IAM (identity and access management), enterprise architecture, cloud, third party hosted solutions, application risk assessments, information management, enterprise data, CRM services, and books and records)

  • Ability to identify and manage complex issues and negotiate solutions within a geographically dispersed organization

  • Proven use of metrics and data used for decision making

  • Ability to develop effective metrics reporting
