Athene Metadata Management Analyst in West Des Moines, Iowa

Purpose:

The Metadata Management Analyst acts as a primary liaison for Athene Enterprise Data Governance team to ensure that corporate projects and business unit enhancements are implemented appropriately with existing data governance enterprise data glossary systems and reporting requirements.

Accountabilities:

  • Supports, audits ingestion, and monitors/enhances the quality of metadata content in the Enterprise Data Glossary; functionality includes business glossary, data impact & lineage, and data quality profiling and scorecards.

  • Supports business adoption and training in the data governance tools and change management.

  • Acquires data subject area expertise and provides consulting inputs/direction.

  • Analyzes business problems and participates in recommendations.

  • Extensive communication with business and technical subject matter experts for understanding and defining business terms and characteristics.

  • Identifies and data quality issues to identify patterns and track data quality remediation.

  • Maintains process, standards, training materials, and data governance success measures.

  • Researches Information Steward capabilities as needed.

  • Responsible for eliciting, analyzing, documenting business and technical needs for data governance enhancements to improve processes and functionality.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 4+ years of progressive responsibility & successful business system analysis experience, preferably with heavy data analysis work in understanding data movement, metadata management or data quality.

  • Proficient in business data analysis concepts (business process modeling, context diagrams, use cases, user stories).

  • Proficient in some facets of Project Management and SDLC processes; awareness of Agile/Iterative approaches.

  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.

  • Strong understanding of how data is populated in an Enterprise Data Glossary and how to report or navigate within a tool to get answers to user questions on impact or lineage.

  • Ability to extract information by questioning, active listening and interviewing.

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to create clear standards and user training documentation.

  • Experience documenting requirements, analyzing data, facilitating meetings, documenting specifications and coordinating or leading projects.

  • Experience in Information Steward is preferred.

  • Familiarity with retirement services products, finance, insurance policy or actuarial data is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
