The IT Business Systems Analyst is responsible for reviewing and understanding business requirements, developing functional and technical requirements, and supporting application team delivery, development and support through data analysis and documentation activities.
Reviews, analyzes and synthesizes business requirements, business processes and related artifacts.
Reviews and updates documentation that describes how the solutions and supporting technologies operate.
Supports response, triage and restoration activities related to application incidents and outages.
Works closely with product owners, technical leads, application developers and application testers to ensure solution design meets both functional and non-functional expectations.
Develops functional and technical requirements, specifications and solution designs that achieve desired business requirements and outcomes.
Performs data analysis and profiling activities to ensure appropriate data elements are available for use by application developers and overall data dependencies have been addressed.
Qualifications and Experience:
4+ years of experience working in a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, IT Analyst, Data Analyst or similar role.
3+ years writing moderate to complex SQL queries, focused on analysis and profiling of medium to large data sets.
Experience creating and maintaining artifacts such as data mappings, business requirements, functional requirements, non-functional requirements, wire frames, process flows, architecture diagrams (conceptual, logical, physical), entity relationship diagrams, use case diagrams and/or data flow diagrams.
Experience using Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
Experience writing application code (any language) preferred but not required.
Understanding of application development and testing processes.
Understanding of techniques used in requirements elicitation, project scoping, requirements analysis and planning and analysis activities.
Ability to learn quickly and pick up subject areas and domains with no prior knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
