Athene Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting & Analysis in West Des Moines, Iowa

Purpose:

The Financial Analyst within the GAAP Financial Reporting & Analysis team will be responsible for helping prepare and analyze the Company’s quarterly and annual results for Athene. This includes gathering and understanding relevant data points, helping explain and message important drivers of results and providing variance analysis to prior periods and Plan. The Financial Analyst will also collaborate with other teams to complete external documents, including the Management’s Discussion and Analysis section of the quarterly 10-Q and annual 10-K, as well as several Investor Relations documents.

Accountabilities:

  • Understands key financial and operational drivers of performance and tracks, analyzes and reports management information that is predictive and actionable.

  • Assists in the preparation and analysis of key business drivers and profitability.

  • Conducts deep dive analyses of specific targeted areas to understand and help explain results to management.

  • Helps prepare written commentary variance reporting at both the detailed and executive summary levels.

  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly GAAP earnings materials for executive and Audit Committee meetings.

  • Assists in the preparation of the quarterly and annual MD&A process.

  • Supports the Investor Relations team in helping prepare quarterly earnings documents and external communications.

  • Assists in the preparation and analysis of key industry and peer benchmarks.

  • Assists with control documentation and processes as well as with quarterly reviews and the annual external audit by preparing supporting work papers and gathering required information.

  • Participates in the various finance projects that arise throughout the year

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience is required

  • Strong preference for candidates who have at least two years of GAAP financial reporting and analysis or public accounting experience

  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience with Oracle, Essbase and Workiva’s Wdesk preferred

  • CPA designation preferred

  • SEC reporting background preferred
