Job ID 1719 Location West Des Moines, IA Job Type Full-Time Apply Now * * * Shive-Hattery's Des Moines office has an immediate opening for a mechanical/plumbing designer with 3+ years of experience. * Work in a team setting with other mechanical team members and disciplines such as electrical, structural, architectural, and civil. * Work on a variety of mechanical projects across our market sectors. Common projects include government facilities, healthcare, industrial, commercial and education facilities. * Produce construction drawings using Revit 3D modeling software at each stage of the design and documentation process, working closely with engineering staff for feedback and quality control. * Assist with mechanical design for building systems including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection. This includes working on sizing and load software, collecting necessary information from team to complete mechanical design tasks, documenting design progress, and producing accurate Revit model for documentation. * Contact local municipalities for utility coordination and document for design development. This includes contacting local code authorities to collect information for compliance with plumbing and mechanical codes. * Visit project sites to assist with measuring, data collection and construction observation duties. * Manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail. * Work under the supervision and mentoring of mechanical engineers and designers. * May be called to complete field investigations of existing facilities and be responsible for collecting 3D laser scan to get accurate data. Will be responsible for learning and being proficient with equipment and related software. * May be called to assist with field verifications of building enclosure construction. Will be required to work on site safely to assist with testing of building enclosure components with a building enclosure commissioning agent. Requirements * Associate degree in CAD Technology with an emphasis on mechanical systems preferred. Building industry or other higher education degrees and experience to be considered. * Proficient in 3D Revit modeling required. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is desired. * Must be able to attain a MEP Revit Certified Professional certificate within 1 year of acquiring a designer position. * Must be able to collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills. * Must be able to work on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment and communicate with team on project progress and challenges to a successful completion. * Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
