This position provides high-quality tutoring services for students. Part-time tutoring hours will be held in the Student Tutoring and Computer Lab and be held on days and evenings. Individuals will plan and guide the learning processes for students toward the achievement of curricular goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Tutor students in specific course material and integrate study skills and learning strategies to promote independent learning
Supports the Make-Up Testing Center by serving as a reader/scribe for students with accommodations
Supports the activities of the STC Lab
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field.
Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills to positively interact with students, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, maintain student confidence and protect operational integrity.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations (faculty, staff, students, and general public).
Master’s degree in chemistry or closely related field is preferred.
Experience tutoring students
Part-time position of 10 – 20 hours per week with an hourly wage of $15 per hour. Anticipated hours will be flexible including morning, afternoon, and evening hours.
Requires skills for succeeding in a classroom and clinical environment, using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Work is performed in a classroom, lab, or clinical setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours. During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computer.
