Monday- Thursday, 8a-4:30p; Friday 8a-12p

The Certified Patient Care Coordinator serves as a member of the healthcare team as an organized, efficient colleague with expertise communicating to customers, family members, physicians, providers and healthcare team members. Emphasis is placed on overseeing patient flow so patients feel attended to. Coordinates and provides support for nursing and clerical staff under the direction of the Manager. Supports the delivery of the department’s services. Contributes to the overall goals of the Cancer Center which in turn ensures high quality patient care.
Greets all patients, families, physicians, staff that present to the Cancer Center. Answers the phone with a welcoming attitude and ascertains their needs. Communicates and coordinates any unresolved patient/family issues promptly to unit leadership
Answers the patients' needs directly. Reports needs promptly to proper authority including Providers. Assists in scheduling follow-up and healthcare team appointments for patients. Makes guest relation rounds for any immediate needs of patients, family, or staff. ie. blankets, water, coffee, way-finding, television...
Works with Manager to improve patient care and comfort. Serves as a resource for patients and patients' families needing direction or information. Assists with information needed for patient portal and will direct information from patient portal to the appropriate person. Preview center visit schedules to facilitate daily flow of patients.
Basic nursing assistant duties (under the supervison of an RN) such as taking vital signs and rooming patients. Performs phlebotomy. Verifies daily that all paper forms are stickered and in the correct chart. Verifies that each chart has a face sheet, stickers, and other necessary paperwork for the days work. Ensure charts have necessary records for consults.
Ensures incoming supplies are maintained in a neat area and items are put away. Makes copies of any forms needed for use on the unit.
Communicates with the registration staff and nursing staff to enhance patient flow throughout the day. Makes sure the refreshment bar and appropriate areas are prepped/stocked for families needs. Organizes and tidies the staff lounge prior to the end of each shift.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
PREFERRED: Medical Assistant/Medical Administrative Assistant
License/ Cert: Medical Assistant/Medical Administrative Assistant certification/ LPN
Minimum of 2 years office/clerical experience or equivalent education or comparable work experience.
Proficient in Microsoft software applications.
Excellent telephone manner, respect for confidentiality.
PREFERRED:Customer Service Experience
