Function: Manufacturing Engineering

Title: Part-Time Student - Technology - Waterloo, IA - 40018

Your Responsibilities

General responsibilities include supporting the PDP Manufacturing Engineers as needed. The PDP Testing and Programming group has multiple new product builds and introductions over the next 18 months, as well as a new manufacturing test tool development. The PDP Testing and Programming team specifically needs assistance with the following activities:

  • Review and provide input to development of manufacturing test procedures.

  • Wire harness and test hardware assembly and prove out.

  • Verify tests that are under development and/or ready for production.

  • Verify test result data analysis for accuracy and test limit improvements.

  • Deploying shop floor test equipment to each test station.

  • Support Safety / Environmental / Ergo reviews of area.

  • Track issues during pre-production builds to complete with high quality, on schedule, and document improvement opportunities.

What It Takes

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Experience working in a team environment

  • Organization and time management skills

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field (other majors may qualify). Would also consider Quality, Business, and Physics Majors.

  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local university

  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis

  • Graduation date of December 2019 or later

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

  • 16 - 20 hours/week during the academic year

  • 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester

A strong candidate will also have

  • Electrical and/or software proficiency

  • Relevant work experience in manufacturing, construction, and/or an office environment

  • Demonstration of leadership skills and related experience
