Description:

Under the supervision of a provider, assists and performs a variety of patient care duties and adheres to performance expectations of all defined services or related duties for the clinics of MercyOne Northeast IA.

What you will Do:  

Assist provider in providing care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served based on principles of growth and development.

• Analyze records for completeness and understanding of patient history.

• Greet and identifypatient.

• Prepare patient for exam while protecting patient’s privacy/modesty.

• Review and document current medication and allergies

• Take vital signs, obtain chief complaints, history, and documents.

• Assist provider with routine procedures.

• Provide patient care as directed by providers (i.e.,immunizations, spirometry, injections, EKG, nebulizer, ear washing, wart removal, etc.

• Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for patient care.

• Assist providers with patient care via phone, mail and/or fax.

• Gather and analyze relevant information provided by patients.

• Triage calls per established provider protocols.

• Provide summary of patient needs and/or test results to provider.

• Communicate information from provider to patient regarding next step(s).

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Medical Assistant Diploma or LPN/RN license.

• 6-month experience in aclinicsetting preferred.

• Intermediate language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability.

• Basic computer skills required.

• Ability to work with diverse groups of people.

• Ability to effectively interact with other health care professionals and the public.

• Ability to present a positive image.

• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
