The billing specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate billing of medications used in various procedures throughout the hospital. Maintains accurate billing of all medications requisitioned and filled/sold by the inpatient pharmacy. Responsible for timely and accurate processing of Kronos timekeeping for the inpatient pharmacy, retail pharmacies, and anticoagulation clinic staff. The billing specialist will also perform secretarial and clerical functions as assigned by the pharmacy manager. Assists the inventory specialist in functions such as ordering, requisitioning, and stocking daily orders.
Enter charges for medications utilizing patient charge sheets provided by departments for outpatient procedures, codes, strokes, and RSI kits.
Enter charges for patients seen in pharmacy based anticoagulation clinics.
Review various charges to evaluate high dollar items, high quantity items, missing NDC codes, service dates, and adjust prices on certain 340(b) items.
High School diploma or GED.
Certified Pharmacy Technician with 6 or more months of on-the-job training in a retail pharmacy or 2 months in a hospital pharmacy.
Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as Certified Pharmacy Technician.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Proficiency in Excel and Word - preferred
