Title: Staff Software Engineer - OnLink - 76313
As an Staff Engineer - OnLink for John Deere's Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Urbandale, IA, Milan, IL, or remote, you will be the technical Leader for the development of the OnLink product that enables golf course professionals to plan, monitor, and complete the work to maintain the golf course and their business operations. Our Staff Engineers are technical leaders – designing and developing production software, championing software development practices and mentoring/coaching the team members on industry trends. An ideal candidate will be someone with a passion for being in the code and a demonstrated history of technical leadership in delivering global software products.
Additionally, you will...
Lead a development team in finding solutions to complex problems for users of the OnLink system and to enable the strategy defined by Product Management and the Turf Care division for OnLink system.
Engaging and/or leading in all aspects of software delivery cycle including design, build, test, deploy, and support of OnLink.
Engaging and/or leading in Agile software development activities including team sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
Is forward thinking in the technical needs of the OnLink system by developing and maintaining industry and technical innovations and works with Architecture and the dev team to prepare and to plan technical roadmap with Product Management.
What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)
7+ years of software development experience
3+ or more years as a primary technical team leader/mentor
Demonstrated experience with Agile development methodologies including Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration/Deployment
Demonstrated experience with build and test pipeline automation, monitoring, Cloud technologies, and other DevOps methodologies
What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)
Experience with additional programming languages/frameworks such as Redux, MobX, Java, Spring, or SQL/NoSQL
Experience with developing interactive maps leveraging Google Maps or similar
Experience leveraging AWS services (ECS, EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS, SNS, etc.)
Experience in data modeling and/or development of SQL/NoSQL DBMSs
Experience in the development of RESTful web services.
Experience further developing a prebuilt application, by either enhancing current features, developing major technical upgrades, or rebuilding existing code
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or related work experience in similar discipline
