About this Job:

The Soybean Process Specialist will support the global/continuous/winter nursery effort by supporting the Soy Product Development teams for continuous season projects. The position is expected link to key stakeholders in soya and possibly other crops with the appropriate Global Continuous Nursery sites and ensures proper execution of projects by creating and maintaining protocols with an emphasis on process efficiency improvement. The position supports soybean nursery processes globally and is expected to align processes across LATAM and NA sites.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordination of soybean NASA/SANA PYT’s, Plant Pulls, PLP rows, Puerto Rico increases, and special projects • Coordination of continuous soy nursery activities for the breeding projects involved, interacting with in-house continuous nursery site managers or 3rd party service providers, and managing the development and continual improvement of standardized protocols/SLA’s and KPI’s across all continuous nursery and testing locations • Develop working relationships with Soy Product Development teams by matching their project support requirements with the appropriate continuous nursery environments and their operations to ensure the timely return of high quality seed • Develop working relationships with Continuous Nursery Site Soy Managers and 3rd party service providers by searching for opportunities that best fit the requirements of Breeding Project Lead scientists for project support, and represent the department needs when working with nursery service providers to ensure they are aware of the Project’s objectives and issues • Assist with the implantation of MINT, OneBiology, and other programs used by Soybean SDU • Plan, coordinate and facilitate communication of Trial requirements between Breeding Project Leads, Traits Leads and Continuous Nursery Site Project Leaders including row allocations, tissue sampling, crossing instructions, harvest instructions, stewardship and compliance criteria, etc. • Maintain lifecycle, PPC and check seed files, write SPIRIT trials, and communicate instructions to GCN soya managers. Schedule MAQA, SQC, and MATS sampling with appropriate marker lab using PlanIT • Responsible for tracking and enforcing Plant Pulls, PYTs, PLP, PR increase timelines at GCN locations • Coordinate update calls between GCN soya managers and BPL/GPL’s. This includes calculating, maintaining, and communicating KPI’s through use of tracking software • Work on a team with other Continuous Nursery Coordinators to implement project plans across multiple continuous nursery locations • Effective implement new strategies as determined by manager

• BS in an Agricultural or Biological Degree or equivalent experience in a related field • Three to five years’ experience in research, seed production or related area • Three to five years’ experience with nursery operations or related area • Basic knowledge of plant breeding required • Understanding of the plant breeding process to develop new soybean varieties • Outstanding abilities and proven experience in designing and managing IS data bases field processes • Project Management experience preferred • Understanding of the plant breeding process to develop new soybean varieties • Strong field orientation and good plot technique experience • Must be highly skilled with Excel, SPIRIT, MINT, Outlook, Planisware, SharePoint, BioPlan etc.

• Leadership and consensus building • Ability to manage, develop and refine protocols • Organization and time management • Communication – written and oral • Knowledge of agronomic practices related to seed production in both traditional and non-traditional soy growing areas • Spanish fluency is a plus • Must be able to independently travel by car or by air to domestic and international locations to provide support and oversight • Able and willing to travel up to 15-20% • Must be able to independently rent a car and legally drive in the U.S. and in foreign countries • Candidates must be able to lift at least 60 lbs. and sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of time • Capable of working in high or low temperature conditions in field or greenhouse • Capable of working extended hours during time-critical periods of the growing season
