Our work depends on a Database Analyst Expert joining our team to support Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) for the United States Postal Service (USPS) activities located remotely.

You will be responsible for managing the design, planning, implementation, and administration of databases, including security, access, and documentation.

  • Determiningdatabase software requirements for the development of business information systems meeting customer needs.

  • Providingtechnical expertise to system professionals engaged in the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of business information systems.

  • Identifyingand evaluatingdatabase software components, interfaces, and performance criteria for proposed business information systems.

  • Providingtechnical guidance on the use of corporate repository objects and modeling techniques to support business information system development and maintenance.

  • Providingtechnical expertise, direction, and advice to management to facilitate planning, set direction, define business initiatives, and develop solutions to meet customer information system needs and requirements.

  • Workingwith computer security personnel to develop and implement procedures for database security.

  • Workingwith internal counterparts and vendors for solutions to database problems; works with headquarters on matters related to standards and policies, and with other IS service center organizations and production operations regarding operations and system capabilities.

  • Leadingthe development and implementation ofprocedures for creation, backup, recovery and re-organization of databases.

  • Establishingand implementingprocedures for capturing database management system utilization and performance statistics.

  • Developinglogical and physical design/re-design of databases for existing or proposed business information systems and establishes local database standards, guidelines, and naming conventions.

  • Workingwith members of information system development teams to determine software use and access requirements

  • Developingand implements procedures for capacity planning, monitoring DBMS integrity, and ensuring corporate and ISSC repositories are updated.

  • Upgradingand patches databases

  • Implementingchange requests (code updates, configuration changes, etc.)

  • Troubleshootingperformance issues

  • Supportingsystem restoration and cloning

  • Updatingand maintainingdocumentation

  • Disaster recovery testing

  • Analyzingcustomer requirements and develops technical solutions to complex problems.

  • The development of database standards, policies, and SOPs and ensures their conformance with the USPS goals and company/customer objectives

  • Applingknowledge of API (Application Programming Interface) for data services and databases.

  • Providingexpert knowledge for the design, development, build, analysis, evaluation, installation, and administration of database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, non-relational database architecture and procedures, metadata and repository creation, and configuration management.

  • Designingand implements databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, ETL tasks, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods

  • Preparingsystem requirements, source analysis, and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

  • Providingtechnical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a database environment.

  • Advisingapplications development staff and users on data-based solutions to business problems, data architectures, database management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of databases.

  • Maintainingcurrent and advanced knowledge of progressive and advancing technology as assigned.

  • Providingexpert guidance and leadership to less-experienced database personnel.

  • May consult with executives and customers to deliver complex database solutions.

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in database solutions.

  • May serve as a team or task leader

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience)

  • 15+ years of experienceas database base administrator for large and complex databases in productionenvironment ( MS SQL Server on Windows)
