Shift: Days, Evenings, Overnights all available.
Performs clinical tests and procedures in one or more functional sections of the laboratory. May instruct students in the Medical Technology Program. Maintains records of performance as defined by the Laboratory’s administrative and sectional standard operating procedures.
Demonstrates technical and operational expertise
Interprets quality control results and instrument function
Completes scheduled preventive maintenance duties
Designated as a lead operator for a specific instrument
Advanced skills for special or advanced technical procedures
Provides assistance and guidance involving repairs, validations, and function checks
Organizes, prioritizes, executes and interprets workload
Acts as a resource technologist for coworkers in a specific area
b. Multiple levels of expertise in designated areas in the lab
c. Functions as a designee in the absence of a supervisor’s absence
d. Actively assists coworkers with interpretations and troubleshooting and possible follow-up corrective actions
Participates in quality assurance (QA)
Assists and completes investigations involving unexpected or adverse outcomes
b. Attends and participates in QA laboratory meetings
c. Supports and actively practices expectations for Pillars of Success to assure the Best Outcome for every patient and his or her family
Resource management
Assists and monitors necessary supplies and kit availability for patient testing
Responsible for following manufacturer’s recommended instructions for utilizing testing material and kits
Assists with reagent orders from vendors in the Supervisor’s absence
Technical and teaching assistance
Participates in the didactic and bench instruction of Clinical Laboratory Scientist students
Provides operational training for coworkers involving manual, automated, and organizational skills for patient testing
Provides knowledge acquired thru experience and training to assist new hires and current coworkers
Minimum Education:
- Baccalaureate degree with major in Medical Technology or related science
Minimum Work Experience:
- Less than one year
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified as a Medical Technologist by Board of Registry of ASCP or equivalent
