Associated Milk Producers PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR in Sanborn, Iowa
The Production Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership in the whey production and milk receiving operations.. This individual will work closely with all departments to establish process methods that ensure operational effectiveness and production adherence. The supervisor will champion an environment of respect and responsibility through professional communication, accountability, budget consciousness, teamwork, quality, safety and productivity.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Monitor production cleanups. Provide analytical input to improve labor utilization and efficiencies during sanitation processes.
Work jointly with maintenance to identify equipment issues, establish day to day operational priorities and improve machine efficiency.
Facilitate production expectations with plant personnel; ensuring that goals are met on a day to day, month to month basis.
Ensure that processing equipment setups are completed in the timeframe required to meet department expectations and productivity.
Establish training procedures and processes that verify job knowledge, including cross training.
Provide daily updates to department managers.
Build a strong working relationship with plant personnel, providing leadership, teaching, and effective communication methods, that ensure enforcement of company policies and procedures.
Understand software controls, system performance, and provide employee training..
Establish a “zero injury” safety culture and motivate employees to follow safety policies and procedures.
Participate in the annual management review of the Food Safety and Quality system.
Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing information skillfully. Works well in group problem solving situations and develops alternative solutions.
Creates a positive team with the ability to build morale and group commitments to meet goals and objectives.
Ability to manage projects by creating workable plans; communicate changes effectively, build commitments and overcome resistance.

Investigate customer complaints, determine root cause, implement corrective action and provide follow-up.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), required
Bachelor’s degree in food science, manufacturing or similar area preferred.
Five years’ experience in dairy or food production, manufacturing, industrial process operations or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Three years of supervisory experience, preferred.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office including, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience with Oracle ERP or other ERP systems is preferred, but not required
Knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Personal protective equipment is required depending on the job being performed, including protective eye wear, or face shields, hearing protection, hair and beard nets, uniforms and footwear. Additional equipment is required when working with chemicals, such as rubber gloves and use of chemical proof aprons as appropriate for the job being performed.
