Ruthven Community Care Center Dietary Supervisor in Ruthven, Iowa

General Purpose:

Manage the operation of the Dietary Department to include staffing, food ordering, and preparation, food delivery and clean-up in accordance with facility policies, physician orders, resident care plans and appropriate regulations. Responsible for directing various duties in and around the kitchen, including preparation of various portions of meals, presentations of food and delivery of food. Responsible for sanitary condition of tableware and working area, delivering and collecting food in and around residents’ rooms.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Purchase food and supplies within budget and maintain a supply to adequately cover each meal. Provide technical guidance and administrative direction over diet planning menu formulation, and preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets. Plan menus to confirm that menus conform to nutritional standards and government and established regulations and procedures. Interview residents or family members, as necessary, to obtain diet history. Provide nutritious, well-prepared, and palatable meals in a timely and consistent manner while adhering to menus and diet orders. Verify appropriate meals/snacks are served to residents with special Dietary needs. Monitor food production maintaining use of standardized recipes and menus and ensuring proper preparation and storage of food and supplies. Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate and discipline dietary personnel. Recognize staff for exceptional care and job performance on a regular basis and as part of their formal performance evaluation. Make job assignments and set priorities. Orient new staff and participate in recruitment and selection. Meet Company policies and State and Federal regulations regarding sanitation and safe food handling techniques. Monitor equipment and work areas to verify they are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner; maintain strict adherence to procedures regarding cleaners or hazardous materials or objects. Monitor food preparation and food storage areas to be sure that health and sanitation regulations are being met. Review resident diet information and care plans, discuss with resident, family, and nursing staff as necessary to make appropriate changes. Actively participates in QAPI (Quality Assurance Process Improvement) program, taking a proactive approach to quality care and services on a continuous basis with engagement of residents, family members and staff. Reports and documents resident changes in consumption or behaviors appropriately. Demonstrates high standards of excellence for meeting resident needs. Communicates effectively, establishes rapport and maintains relationships with residents. Demonstrates fun in creating a positive atmosphere for residents in conjunction with our core values. Follows instructions and complete daily assignments as assigned and is proactive to change. Possesses understanding and compassion for the elderly population. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications:

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalency (preferred). Registered Dietician or Certified Dietary Manager (preferred). License/Certifications

Required to complete annual 12-hour in-service training programs (as well as supplemental online education). Failure to complete the 12-hour in-service training program, or any other requirement under internal policies, local, state, or federal law may result in termination
