Musco Lighting Senior Embedded Systems Engineer in Oskaloosa, Iowa
The Senior Embedded Systems Engineer will be involved in all aspects of software and firmware development for a variety of communication and control products used in advanced LED lighting systems. Duties including product concept development; firmware development, including generation of detailed design and test documentation; and product and system-level verification and validation, including oversight of field trials and associated data analysis.
What you will be doing:
Assisting with developing specifications for new products and systems.
Independently developing software and firmware for new and existing products.
Conducting design/code reviews to ensure designs meet functional requirements.
Developing product and system tests to verify functionality.
Leading Beta testing, working with other departments as necessary. (May require travel to sites.)
Assisting with the selection of new component families (e.g., microcontrollers), communication methods and protocols, hardware interfaces, and so on.
Assisting in development of design methodologies and choosing development tools.
Mentoring less experienced engineers.
Providing technical support as needed.
What you need to be successful:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in an R&D role performing software/firmware development, testing, and support.
Comprehensive knowledge of software development tools and methods.
Comprehensive knowledge of C programming and C++ programming using object-oriented design.
In addition, the following experience and skills are beneficial:
Experience with control systems.
Experience with real-time operating systems.
Experience with embedded Windows or embedded Linux programming.
Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps.
A basic understanding of hardware concepts and development activities.
The ability to use common test and measurement equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.
Other Special Requirements:
Up to 5% travel may be required. Travel includes trips to job sites, seminars, corporate and manufacturing facilities, and vendors.
Overtime occasionally required, possibly including weekends.
