Position Summary

In the Senior Supply Specialist role you will be responsible for the more complex procurement methods that require a greater degree of experience, knowledge, professionalism, and administration. Responsible for establishing, coordinating, and administering long term purchase agreements for assigned commodities. Is proficient in all procurement practices and able to work independent of daily supervision.

The Bandag facility in Muscatine has been in operation for more than 50 years and is where the retread equipment is made that directly supports Bandag retread dealers. Bandag dealers use this equipment in their retread plants to create quality retread tires for fleet customers of all sizes.

This position requires the candidate to report to the plant 5 days per week. The ideal candidate will need to reside in the Muscatine, IA area

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and administer daily decisions in support of the formal ERP actions.

  • Participates in joint meetings with production planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Control, and other departments to review item or material specifications, new or existing sources of supply, recommendations for reduced procurement.

  • Receives requisitions and reviews for completeness and necessary information. Selects reliable sources, request bids as necessary, evaluates quotations, and makes final supplier selection.

  • Coordinates, conducts, and participates in meetings and discussions and establishes effective relationships between suppliers and or supplier representatives and necessary related personnel concerning subjects other than normal price, delivery and or quality negotiations (i.e., value analysis or engineering, new methods, techniques, supplier evaluations, processes, etc.)

  • Negotiates with suppliers as necessary on new procurements or changes to existing purchase orders.

  • Responsible for ensuring that active purchase orders are complete and accurate at all times reflecting the latest requirements and terms and conditions in compliance with company-supplier agreements and with all governing regulations. Has authority to approve purchase orders as defined in Boundaries and Authorization Guidelines.

  • Drafts purchase orders and long-term agreements in a manner that ensures all requirements and special terms and conditions are met.

  • Investigates and evaluates new sources of supply. Interviews supplier sales representatives and continually endeavors to keep abreast of developments that influence procurement procedures and practices.

​Daily Responsibilities:

  • Executes purchase orders/leases/contracts to ensure goods and services are delivered in a quality and quantity that meets all specifications and requirements.

  • Develop and execute supply strategies to insure the timely supply of required goods and services at the lowest possible cost consistent with established quality, service and delivery standards or specifications.

  • Develops supplier relations in such a manner that BBTS accrues the benefits available from the resources of the supplier beyond that directly associated with the goods and services being provided.

  • Responsible for handling non-conformances by determining disposition, contacting suppliers for returns and issuing RTV’s in a timely manner.

  • Maintain pricing, item/vendor relationships and vendor additions/maintenance within PeopleSoft to fully utilize system functionality.

  • Coordinates/communicates with the BBTS manufacturing facilities to determine material volume requirements and to ensure that all item descriptions/specifications are clearly defined and delivered.

  • Explores the market for new sources of supply and develops them in anticipation of need or when specific advantage is available to BBTS.

​Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Three years as a Buyer I and four years as a buyer II or seven years comparable purchasing experience. CPM desired.

  • Oracle experience desired

  • Proficient in Excel (Pivot Tables, V-look up.. etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
