UnityPoint Health RN II Infusion in Muscatine, Iowa
Utilizing the Nursing Process, coordinates and implements care of patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in conjunction with the Charge Nurse of the Short Stay Unit and under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services. Communicates with physicians/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatments. Represents nursing within Trinity Muscatine and works to improve the health of the communities we serve.
Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
Administers prescribed meds and treatments in accordance with approved nursing technique.
Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient’s condition and reaction/response to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
Performs patient care appropriate to condition and considering the needs specific for patient’s age, utilizing critical pathways, protocols, and standards of care.
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy and the patient condition.
Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
Able to intervene appropriately in emergency situations.
Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Demonstrates ability to assist physician, perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to Care Director, co-workers, and physicians.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned unit.

Uses Trinity Muscatine Business Management System to assist staff and patients in calling out opportunities and problem solving
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience: Previous acute care preferred
License(s)/Certification(s): Current licensure in good standing to practice in the state of Iowa. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per policy.
Lifting Requirements: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, pushing or pulling arm or leg controls or maintaining a production rate pace. Light work requires physical exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work.
