DescriptionStanley Consultants is seeking a Civil Transportation-Airfield Engineer to perform transportation related design tasks including airfield and roadway geometric design and plan and specification preparation. The successful candidate will exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design decisions and modifications and be accountable to a Project Lead/Manager. Work will be primarily on projects for Department of Defense or other federal clients from a variety of branches and districts, and will involve domestic and international standards. Work may occasionally be on local projects for state departments of transportation, municipalities or private clients.Job responsibilities:The incumbent also has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating design engineering assignments involving unique or controversial problems which significantly affect major projects.Plans, organizes and recommends programs and resources for the discipline to meet the objectives of the technical organization.Determines client requirements and develops specifications, drawings, instructions and related documents.Prepares and modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental studies and designs for projects.Evaluates need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations.Serves as technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinates technical efforts within design areas.Assists in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects.Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing and scheduling of construction activities.Attends onsite and offsite client meetings. Domestic and occasional international travel will be required.Occasional local, domestic and international travel for project purposes. International travel may be approximately 1-2-week durations.Skills, education and experience:Bachelors of Science in Civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required.Minimum of 4 years relevant experience required.Proficiency in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment preferred.Ability to use AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.Ability to use Bentley design software a plus but not required.Experience in Airfield design is preferred.Familiarity in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) criteria is preferred.Must be able to work in a multi-office, multi-discipline team environment.Must possess strong virtual communications skills.Certifications:PE registration/license or ability to obtain licensure within 6 monthsFuture potential for professional career path growth in:Technical expertiseProject managementBusiness developmentOperationsA Great Place to Work: Become a MemberOnce you are hired at Stanley Consultants, you become a member of our member-owned company.
