About The Job
Assists in care of the anesthesia environment and equipment to ensure patient and staff safety. (Customer Service) Assembles and cleans equipment as appropriate to procedure and age of patient. (Skills/technical knowledge) Reports any equipment malfunctions and unusual incidents to the director and/or the medical director, or anesthesia provider in the room, and call Bio Med. (Communication) Orders and restocks expended supplies on a STAT and routine basis. (Stewardship) Performs routine clerical duties. (Skills/technical knowledge/Individual Development)) Assists anesthesia providers in the performance of delegated anesthesia related functions. Meets productivity expectations. (Skills/technical knowledge/Individual Development) Inputs/verifies patient charges daily. Serves as steward of hospital resources. (Steward) Demonstrates customer service concepts by anticipating the equipment and materials needs of the anesthesia providers. (Customer Service) Serves or supports process improvement teams, which influence customer satisfaction, clinical outcomes and financial stability. (Quality) Adapts positively to the ever changing health care environment by supporting technology and process changes, willing to learn new things, is open to change and maintain a calm, positive manner under stressful conditions. (Adaptability) Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations. Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments. Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development, and participates in medical center and/or departmental education programs. Communicates with and performs duties following the philosophy of Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa and the Sisters of Mercy reflecting the organization’s Mission, Values, and Guiding Behaviors. Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment. Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager or department head.
What We Are Looking For
High school diploma or equivalent required
Successful completion of formal Nurse Aid course/training verified through transcript or original program certificate of completion, required.
Currently enrolled in an A.D.N., B.S.N., program with successful completion of first semester of A.D.N. program, OR first year completion of nursing courses in BSN OR graduate of an A.D.N., Diploma, BSN or LPN program.
Completion of aide certification or equivalent.
- Demonstrated competence in health care setting preferred.

Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
