Koch Fertilizer, LLC is seeking a motivated and self-driven Operations Technician to join the operations and maintenance team at the Marshalltown IA, Anhydrous Ammonia Terminal with duties consisting of receipt of ammonia from pipeline, ammonia refrigeration & storage, ammonia heating & shipments. The successful candidate is going to have a mechanical or technical background as well as having a compliance mindset. The successful candidate will also perform documentation duties to assist the Terminal Leader in all aspects of compliance. Some travel will be required to allow for the completion of training and to support additional Koch Fertilizer, LLC sites. A Day In The Life Typically Includes: Monitoring and operation of process equipment; Daily equipment inspections and process data collection; Management or completion of necessary maintenance tasks; Performing reliability-based equipment care tasks; Providing technical expertise to ensure optimized operations of the terminal to safely receive, store and ship NH3; Completing EH&S focused inspections and work preparation forms; Always working in a manner that ensures personal safety of self and environmental compliance What You Will Need:( Basic Qualifications) Strong mechanical aptitude or background High School Diploma or equivalent Demonstrated abilities to develop people as a team Ability to understand procedures and safety & environmental risks associated with handling, shipping & storage of anhydrous ammonia 1+ yrs. experience in an operations or maintenance role Good documentation and organizational skills Effectively communicate to managers, customers and peers Experience with Microsoft Office products (specifically Word & Excel) Valid drivers license Must be willing to work extended hours as required and be on a rotating 24 hour on-call schedule nights and weekends Must live within 30 minutes of the terminal Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 35lbs. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work at heights of approximately Unassisted physical mobility around a plant Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles Pass a pulmonary breathing test and wear a gas mask type respirator and full Level A PPE What Will Put You Ahead: ( Preferred Qualifications) Experience or training in the installation, maintenance, operations and troubleshooting of electronic control and process systems Experience or training in operations, troubleshooting, and repair of pumps, compressors, motors, and other rotating equipment. Previous management and supervisory skills Experience working with chemical shipping & storage equipment or equivalent skills in a different industry, and the ability to demonstrate adequate knowledge of the equipment and ammonia refrigeration process Instrumentation controls/electrical technician background Technical Certificate, and/or Associate or bachelors degree in a related field 2+ years experience in an ammonia terminal Experience with Microsoft Office products (specifically Word & Excel) Learn more about our Management Philosophy (Market-Based Management ) You may not always see our name on the products
