CIVCO Medical Instrument Co Inc Production Planner in Kalona, Iowa



This position is responsible for the daily execution of production planning responsibilities that will include scheduling internal manufacturing areas, acknowledging customer orders, and collaborating with teams across the organization on various production control tasks. This person will analyze inventory levels relative to customer demand to increase inventory turns while maintain high levels of customer service. This position works cross functionally with sales, manufacturing, and all other departments. This position reports to the Manager, Materials and Planning Logistics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (other duties may be assigned)

  1. Production Planning (60%)
  • Reviews customer orders and provides lead-time commitments to Sales

  • Develops daily production schedules for manufacturing teams based on supply and demand

  • Responsible for Juarez production scheduling and weekly materials export process

  • Developing weekly quality inspection schedules and priorities

  • Coordinates issue resolution with buyers and internal manufacturing areas

Result: Effective utilization of internal manufacturing capacity while maintaining high customer service levels and inventory turns

  1. Inventory Management (25%)
  • Assisting in CN material disposition planning and executing those plans.

  • Establishes and reviews inventory levels to achieve established inventory turns goals for assigned item classes to meet customer lead time commitments.

  • Monitoring labor, equipment, warehouse and facility weekly to ensure sufficient plans are in place to support material flow to customer

Result: High inventory turns and effective utilization of planned resources.

  1. Special Project Execution. (10%)
  • Providing leadership, coordination, or input for production control process improvement projects.

  • Supporting product development initiatives by coordinating pre-production builds.

  • Providing back-up coverage as Production Control sign-off for CO and MRB decisions.

Result: Efficient and cost-effective production control systems.

  1. Quality Systems Maintenance. (5%)
  • Ensuring purchasing and production control systems and procedures are implemented as required to follow all FDA/ISO, CE, and MHW requirements.

  • Ensuring proper response to internal and external audit findings.

Result: Production control systems meet regulatory requirements.

Other Duties

  • Supports daily cycle count process through audit and approval process

  • Reviews daily backorder data and updates On Time Delivery performance tracker

  • Analyzes open order reports based on customer needs to identify potential order delays

  • Analyzes and manages internal manufacturing capacity and inventory levels relative to customer demand and develops production and quality inspection schedules

  • Reviews weekly inventory snapshots for Kalona and Juarez sites

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of high school diploma and 3-5 years in production planning or operations management in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or logistics is preferred.

  • Proven analysis and project execution skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, and familiarity with machining manufacturing methods.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required for the ability complete work.

  • Requires some face-to-face interaction with team members, peers and management to complete work and provide support.
