Corteva Agriscience Research Associate in Johnston, Iowa
We're looking for a responsible and highly detail-oriented Research Associate to join our Mass Spectrometry (MS) Team in Trait Discovery (TD)- Input Trait Discovery (ITD)-Activity Based Discovery (ABD) Group! MS technology in TD at Corteva Agriscience is a research and technology support function accountable for the discovery and development of new traits as well as implementation of protein-based screening assays and other proteomics applications across all Corteva Agriscience. The Research Associate will conduct sample preparation and mass spectrometry analysis in multiple different organisms including bacteria, fungi and plants to support MS-based proteomics workflows.
Responsibilities - WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Perform in-gel and in-solution digestion of protein samples for mass spectrometry-based protein discovery analysis and in-planta expression analysis. This work may require occasional weekend shifts
Ensure that all materials necessary for production are prepared properly, on time, and in a safe manner
Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
Make detailed observations, analyze data and interpret results
Record information in proprietary and standard software applications
Continually look for process improvement opportunities and help the team to implement solutions
Manages time and priorities to complete studies according to timelines and makes efficient use of resources.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Bachelors or Masters degree in biochemistry, biological science or related field
0 to 2 years of industry related experience required, or equivalent levels of relevant education and experience
Protein chemistry experience and skills are a plus but not required
Attention to detail and ability to stay focused while performing repetitive tasks
Ability to work well with teams as well as independently
Candidates should possess a demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills are required
Experience with problem solving and process improvement are a plus but not required
Self-motivated and goal oriented
