This is a lab-based position which requires the ability to work efficiently both independently as well as in a team environment, follow, develop, and troubleshoot protocols and deliver high quality results on time. The candidate will perform plant transformation in multiple commercially relevant crops, initiate and maintain in vitro plant tissue culture experiment in a high throughput setting and present research outcomes to peers.
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?
Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology, Plant Biotechnology or related subject with previous laboratory experience
Knowledge and hand on experience with monocot and/or dicot plant tissue culture and genetic transformation technologies including particle bombardment and Agrobacterium
Proficiency in isolation and quantification of DNA/RNA, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, etc., primer design and various cloning techniques, handling bacterial cell cultures, bacterial transformations, plasmid purification from bacterial overnight cultures
Experience with aseptic techniques in laminar flow and bio-containment hoods
Knowledge of bacterial cell culture
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member
Capability of trouble shooting and able to provide solution when challenges met
Highly motivated, result oriented, and a good team player
Flexibility in handling new job assignments and achieving results in a rapidly changing work environment
Solid proficiency with standard computer programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and strong capacity to learn additional computer software
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, is essential
