Your Responsibilities

As an Engineering Manager for John Deere Financial located in Johnston , you will be responsible for managing 2 agile teams. Primary Job Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing the product level technology roadmap and be part of major technology decisions such as modernizing, upgrades and hosting

  • Ensures development standards are adhered to by the team that lead to highest quality standards for customers/users

  • Manages staffing strategy to ensure delivery teams have the team members with the right technical skills for the product. Focus on long term talent development

  • Promoting and influencing the devops mindset in the team.

  • Promote and encourage agile culture among teams along with strong engineering practices like observability, A/B testing, focus on metrics and feedback loops etc

In addition, you will;

  • Understand financial implications of the technology and makes economically sound decisions. Provide input in the operating budget and has responsibility for managing it

  • Engage the PO and team in thin slicing of value stories

  • Ensure that the digital product meets compliance and regulatory guidelines

What Skills You Need

  • 5+ years of broad technical knowledge and hands on knowledge across a wide breadth of technology competencies -React/Redux, Java, APIs, AWS, HTML & CSS, Databases, Basic Web Infrastructure. Should have experience of building highly scalable web applications

  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership – understanding of architecture to evaluate designs and solutions and translating those to detail design/code

  • 5+ years of team-oriented, passionate about developing others' skills and capabilities

  • 3+ years of DEI champion. Appreciates and encourages diversity in teams

  • 3+ years of effective verbal and written communication forms with emphasis on persuasive communication, tact and negotiation. Ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms

  • 2+ years of experience providing candid and effective performance feedback

  • 2+ years of knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery practices

  • 3+ years of experience with Agile development process, methodology, and scaling

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience demonstrating servant leadership, learning agility and growth mindset

  • Demonstrated passion for technical learning and identifying areas for application

  • 2 or more years of experience leading engineering teams

  • Strong understanding and implementation of cloud technologies

  • Good understanding of UX/CX

  • Experience developing software in a regulated and compliance driven environment

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science

    OR

  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience as stated above
