Delta Dental of Iowa is seeking outstanding candidates to fill aData Reporting Analystrole. You will provide critical support to the business by developing, generating, and maintaining data reports and analysis. While collaborating across business areas, you will deliver timely, accurate, consistent, and targeted information. You will work with end-users to develop and maintain data requirements and overall report development, maintenance, and publications. You will analyze, develop, and document business requirements and translate them into IT solutions or reports to ensure our teams are well-informed and able to make thoughtful, data-driven decisions. As a Data Reporting Analyst, you will be detail-oriented, analytical, and curious.

Essential Functions and Principal Accountabilities:

  • Serve as an active participant in the implementation of building and maintaining Delta Dental’s data warehouse/data repository and business intelligence environment.

  • Ensure documentation is created and maintained for all processes and reports supported using the data warehouse and business intelligence software.

  • Ensure data integrity between source system data and the data warehouse through an understanding of the flow of data from source systems to the data warehouse and associated user interfaces.

  • Design, develop, analyze and publish data queries and reports in easy to understand formats consistent with company and business units needs and specifications. Actively work to move existing reports and queries into the data warehouse/business intelligence software.

  • Through consistent and timely reporting, monitor and analyze data and metrics for patterns, trends and anomalies. Provide proactive assessment and recommendations to business areas on how to leverage the information within their areas to improve processes, functions and/or systems.

  • Perform ad hoc data requests and analysis as requested.

  • Assist in training efforts related to the data warehouse and business intelligence environment.

  • Identify test data requirements; create test data and database queries to assist in test execution. Partner with Systems Coordinator to ensure test plans are detailed, accurate and generate desired outcomes when system updates are moved to production environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, business, management or related field or commensurate work experience.

  • 5+ years of work experience working with complex systems business intelligence environment.

  • Data warehouse and business intelligence experience, preferably Business Objects/SAP.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL or related database software and applications Crystal Reports and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with emphasis in solving problems independently. Must possess ability to diagnose reported problems beyond superficial symptoms and identify root/system cause(s).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in actively working with all levels of employees, including leadership levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task responsibilities and to manage workloads to established deadlines.

  • Insurance industry experience is preferred.
