We are seeking a RN with two years experience in pediatrics, developmental disabilities and skilled patients to lead our Community Services Program as the Community Nursing Supervisor. This leader will manage the care of children through care coordination and supervision of staff. In addition, they will develop and implement care plans based on comprehensive assessments, and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to advance health care and a great life. What You'll DoCare Management

  • Collaborate with child’s family, physician, and other care team members in developing, implementing, and revising plan of care based on assessments and required by policy/regulation to ensure each child is receiving quality health care services aligned with pediatric standards and ChildServe policy.

  • Participate on the care team, including the admission process as needed to assure service ability to meet the medical needs.

  • Participate in quality monitoring, reporting and care initiatives designed to improve care quality practices. Role models healthy professional relationships with families and promotes open and honest communication.

  • Ensure care documentation aligns with ChildServe policy, regulatory, licensing, and accreditation standards.

Supervision of Care

  • Delegate health care delivery within parameters identified by Board of Nursing and compliance with ChildServe policy, regulatory, licensing, and accreditation standards.

  • Monitor direct support staff in implementation of care plan. Respond appropriately to health, safety, and emergency situations. Must be able to make independent decisions regarding health/nursing situations. Provide on-call nursing support to designated location as scheduled

  • Participate as assigned in teaching and training of other healthcare staff members and non-licensed caregivers, including but not limited to: Providing leadership and direction, especially as it relates to paraprofessional personnel in the ongoing implementation of the plan of care. Timely assessment and provision of policy and procedure specific training whenever a need is identified.

Supervision of Staff

  • Assure that nursing assignments and work schedules meet the health care needs of the children and are aligned with budget.

  • Collaborate with Nurse Manager to ensure and enforce all staff policies and staff performance management.

  • Complete performance appraisals on time annually.

  • Ensure staff compliance with skills competency and ongoing training requirements per ChildServe policy and licensing requirements for licensed and non-licensed caregivers.

  • Collaborate with recruitment staff to identify nursing recruitment needs, participate in interview process and make hiring recommendations.

Supervision of Business Practices

  • Responsible to ensure environments are maintained according to regulatory requirements.

  • Consistently demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServe equipment, supplies, and environment.

  • Consistently communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with children, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to assure all care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.

  • Collaborate with managers to manage physical, human and financial resources so as to maximize their effect on mission outcomes and organizational results.

  • Maintain current knowledge of ChildServe and community resources that are available to children and families.


  • Supervise the team through effective hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.

  • Ensure development of staff to achieve high results.

  • Promote engagement and satisfaction to drive retention.

  • Collaborate with management team to identify opportunities for improvement.


  • Full-Time role, Monday - Friday, occasional weekends as needed

What You'll Need

  • 2 Years of RN experience in the field of developmental disabilities, pediatrics, and skilled patients

  • Experience as a charge nurse, team lead, or supervisor preferred

  • Graduate of accredited nursing school, BSN preferred

  • Current RN licensure to practice in the state of Iowa

  • Documentation of current CPR/BLS certification

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand

  • Ability to communicate in English effectively for understanding, in writing and verbally
