Carver Charitable Trust, the Iowa Neuroscience Institute seeks revolutionary discoveries in fundamental neuroscience to translate an understanding of how the brain works into clinical treatments for disorders of the brain and nervous system.The INI, under the leadership of Ted Abel, PhD, is already a large community with more than 100 faculty members across five colleges and 26 departments dedicated to cutting edge research, education, and community outreach. The INI offers extensive opportunities and support for vibrant interdepartmental collaboration with other researchers across our campus. The University of Iowa provides state-of-the-art research facilities, including the Iowa Magnetic Resonance Facility, the Central Microscopy Research Facility, the Iowa Institute of Human Genetics, the Viral Vector Core, the Genome Editing Core and a Neural Circuits and Behavior Core developed by the INI.The Institute is particularly interested in researchers working in the areas of: neural circuits and behavior; neurogenetics and epigenetics; and modeling of neurological and psychiatric disorders in animal and cellular systems, with a particular focus on identifying and developing new therapeutic opportunities for patients.Qualifications include Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, and applicable training to support the appointment, including clinical training where appropriate. Positions are available at Assistant through full Professor ranks, in the tenure track. Applicants should have demonstrated ability in research and teaching, including high-profile publications, with clear potential for supporting an innovative and productive research program.
