Responsibilities will include outpatient care in busy MS clinics, inpatient general neurology service, and teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows. Opportunities are available for research-related activity such as performing clinical trials or preparing scholarly publications.In 2016, Forbes Magazine has listed the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as the Number 12 employer overall nationwide and the Number 1 employer in the Health Care industry. It is a 711-bed comprehensive academic medical center that is consistently recognized as one of the best hospitals in the United States. The Department of Neurology is perennially ranked by the US News and World Report as one of the best in the country and is one of the top 20 programs in training academic neurologists. The Department is comprised of 49 faculty members in both clinical and research areas and is currently undergoing a major expansion with recruitment in multiple areas of clinical neurology and basic neuroscience. The Carver College of Medicine is the only allopathic medical school in Iowa, and is the major tertiary referral center for the state's population of three million people as well as neighboring regions of the Midwest.
