Description and Responsibilities
The 3rd Shift Production Group Leader position is located in our Fredericksburg, Iowa, facility, which is a part of our Dairy division. A detailed list of responsibilities are below.
Job Summary ( Purpose): Oversee and direct the production line staff. The primary goal of this position is to lead the production staff to achieve production targets while maintaining a safe and efficient operation and producing products at or above established quality standards. The success of this position will include coordinating production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control departments to achieve sustained and improved efficiencies. The position will include online implementation and compliance of new and existing policies and procedures. This position will be on 3rd shift.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for following all applicable quality and food safety procedures and policies
Ensure direct reports and fellow employees, contractors and visitors are following all applicable quality and food safety procedures and policies
Ensure all required KPIs are met regarding facilities goals on safety, production, quality and costs
Ensure adherence to proper personal safety regulations, policies and procedures
Conduct regular visual line checks to insure proper dating, labeling, and packaging of product
Reviewing production paperwork
Coach, motivate, train, and effectively manage the performance of production staff (20 direct reports)
Create and present information on various training topics, line stats and production data to employees/managers/buyers
Coordinate with engineering, maintenance or others as appropriate to solve production-related problems
Actively identify and initiate process improvements to positively impact financial viability, service and product quality and customer satisfaction of the facility
Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
Other duties as assigned by management
College degree in food science or engineering preferred
Food manufacturing experience preferred
Fluency in English, knowledge of other languages is a plus
Understanding processes and mechanics of production line equipment
Ability to manage, train and develop employees with teams of around 20
Ability to multi-task and delegate functions
Display creative thinking and deductive reasoning skills
Possess proven written and verbal communication skills
Possess computer skills including Windows, Outlook, Word and Excel
Familiarity with GMP, quality, and hygiene standards for food manufacturing
Minimum 5 years of supervsory experience
Minimum 3 years of experience within implementing Continuous Improvement projects
Must be available to work 3rd shift: 10:00pm - 8:00am
