Your Responsibilities

As a Sr. User Experience Researcher for John Deere's Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Dubuque, IA, you will….

  • Conduct a wide range of interesting and challenging user research activities across our portfolio of Construction Equipment (Excavators, Skid Steers, Loaders, etc) with an initial focus on the usability and trust of autonomous technologies, such as obstacle intelligence systems.

  • Provide insights to the organization that drive meaningful change for our customers

  • Partner with other researchers, designers, and engineers to leverage user-centered design principles and processes in a team environment

What Skills You Need

  • 3+ years of experience performing discovery activities to develop deep customer understanding, reveal pain points for users, and define research questions

  • 3+ years of experience planning user research studies and selecting appropriate UX metrics

  • 3+ years of experience collecting user data, including a strong aptitude in usability testing, contextual inquiry, card sorting, heuristic evaluations, task analysis, etc.

  • 3+ years of experience analyzing complex user data and performing significance testing

  • 3+ years of experience writing research reports and presenting results to leadership/stakeholders

  • 3+ years of experience working within an iterative, user-centric design process

  • 3+ years of experience partnering with UX Designers and Product Managers to bring research findings to life in the form of new or improved solutions

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills (written, verbal, comprehension, and presentation)

  • Comfortable using software such as SPSS, Qualtrics, Mural, InVision, Tobii Pro Lab, etc.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience collecting and analyzing physiological data (e.g., eye tracking, heart rate variability, skin conductance, respiration rate, EEG, etc)

  • Experience working with heavy machinery in the agriculture and/or construction domains

  • Experience conducting remote usability testing and interviews

  • CUXP/CHFP or UX certification from NNg or HFI is a plus


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Master’s Degree from a research-focused graduate program, such as Applied, Cognitive, or Experimental Psychology, Human Factors Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or a closely related field. PhD strongly preferred.
