Function: Product Engineering

Title: Senior Engineer, Hydraulic Systems - 75129

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer for John Deere’s Construction and Forestry Division located in Dubuque, IA, you will be responsible for developing next-generation hydraulic systems for Deere Excavators. In addition, you will ….

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring for the Deere Global Hydraulic Team located in Dubuque, IA; Pune, India; and Tianjin, China.

  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining technical relationships with critical global suppliers.

  • Support PDP Physical Builds and field issue resolution for a globally focused product.

  • Contribute to product design guidelines and Engineering Analysis Procedures for Excavators.

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)

  • 5 or more years of hydraulic system product design experience for mobile off-road equipment.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to facilitate activities with supply management, quality, PV&V, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

  • Prior work experience demonstrating strong leadership skills.

  • Ability and willingness to travel, up to 25% both domestic and internationally.

What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)

  • Experience designing future generation hydraulic systems.

  • Design experience including: main control valves, hydraulic spools, pumps, motors, gearboxes (swing and track drives), cylinders.

  • Experience optimizing control system parameters to achieve optimal hydraulic performance.

  • Previous successful project management and leadership skills.

  • Experience with engineering data analysis tools and dynamic systems modeling.

  • International experience and knowledge of Asian cultures.


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
