UnityPoint Health Training Center Coordinator in Des Moines, Iowa
Coordinates Training Center (TC) activities throughout the region of Iowa as well as responsible for the training with the UnityPoint Health Des Moines. These include: demonstration of expert clinical practice, integration of research findings into practice, implementation of American Heart Association (AHA) Standards, and monitoring instructors to impact the quality of patient care. Works cooperatively with health care professionals in the hospital and community to meet the Training Center policies and maintain standards of care and quality improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for coordinating ACLS trainings
Program Coordination
- Serves as a resource to the aligned TC instructors as well as to other health care personnel involved in cardiac emergency care
Acts as a positive role model and resource for staff
Accepts responsibility for maintaining and developing own skill and knowledge in the clinical area by participating on assigned/selected committees
Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

Coordinates and teaches AHA courses as needed to health care professions
Provides updated information and course changes to aligned TC instructors as directed by the AHA
Monitors new instructors on their first teaching sessions
Mentors instructors as needed to achieve high quality standards
Monitor courses and review course evaluation summaries to provide for continuous quality
Maintains equipment in working order and disinfects manikins
Operates within and maintains budget for the Training Center
Provide appropriate reports to AHA and maintains contract requirements
Develops, implements, and evaluates evidenced based standards of practice and care
Participates on the Code Blue Committee and other AHA and community CPR Committees
Assists with formation of nursing policy and procedures
Cross-trains in simulation education activities for coverage when needed to meet department needs
Minimum Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree
BSN Preferred
Master’s Degree in Education desirable
Experience:
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Instructor & AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor
With a minimum of 5 years of experience
AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
Multicultural sensitivity.
Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.
Customer/patient focused.
Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
