Summary:

Ensuring that our platform is a positive force for the communities on Instagram is one of our most important responsibilities over the next few years. Our vision is to create an Instagram where everyone feels safe, supported, and free to express themselves. To that end, we are building a full-time product team focused on Equity & Inclusion with the mission of creating the most equitable experience for our global communities on Instagram. While we’ve had multiple efforts in this area across both Instagram and Facebook, we’re forming this new dedicated team within Instagram in order to help centralize and accelerate our progress in this critical space. The recent racial justice movement is a moment of real significance for our company and we want to ensure we prevent any bias in our systems, products and policies as it runs counter to providing a platform for everyone to express themselves.The Instagram Well-being Equity TPM will own projects that help make Instagram an equitable product for everyone. The TPM will help develop the strategy and frameworks for understanding fairness in our products, tools and measurement systems. They will develop standards for equitable product development, and create a scalable program to ensure products are developed to those standards. In this role, you will collaborate with teams across Instagram and Facebook to advance our efforts and help support equity.The ideal candidate for this role is someone well versed in building strategies and driving execution across product experiences and technical systems, is comfortable collaborating across organizations, and has excellent communication skills. Additionally, we’re looking for individuals who are passionate about developing and implementing diversity, fairness, inclusion strategies in product and working with AI.

Required Skills:

  1. Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones of your team

  2. Build subject matter expertise in your area and stay up-to-date on technological developments

  3. Develop and manage cross-functional programs, facilitating relationships across Instagram and Facebook to identify risks, manage dependencies and optimize resources between media infra groups

  4. Work with Product and Engineering to define your team’s roadmap and execution strategy

  5. Drive internal process improvements across teams, remove roadblocks, and deliver on high-impact projects with a focus on efficiency, performance, and quality

  6. Assess business impact, prioritize initiatives and drive accountability in a fast-paced environment through project planning and strong interpersonal skills

  7. Develop robust engineering accountability measurements, maintaining high quality engineering work

  8. Drive accountability and ownership in a fast paced environment across a dynamic team through project planning and interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

  2. 7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience

  3. Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery

  4. Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope

  5. Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership

  6. Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products

  7. Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience

  8. Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems

  9. Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience developing social products, technologies and platforms

  2. Demonstrated success developing and implementing D&I strategies

  3. Experience working with underrepresented communities, in product, research or volunteering capacity

  4. Experience as a D&I subject matter expert within a dynamic organization

  5. Experience working in a highly ambiguous field with evolving definitions and boundaries

  6. Experience with software development lifecycle, technical execution, implementing new tools and change management for large company wide programs
