Co-op services Credit Union Supervisor, Quality Assurance-IT in Des Moines, Iowa

The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Supervisor of Quality Assurance-IT to lead and manage the Quality Assurance Analysts team responsible for software quality assurance and testing. This role partners closely with technology supervisors/managers and the stakeholders of the business and product. It is essential to ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of new and enhanced business capabilities that meet or exceed high quality expectations. Leads in the Agile/Scrum transformation and guide the quality assurance analysts’ team accordingly. Partners with the internal and external clients to ensure that customer service standards, training, and quality controls are successfully making the team Trusted Advisors.

What You Can Look Forward to

  • Manages a team of quality assurance analysts whose responsibility is to become thoroughly familiar with the business or operational processes of a business unit office, so that the projects/enhancements/updates can be tested for existing or new technology applications.

  • Conducts or oversees the development of detailed test case definition and test case development and their documentation for multiple applications.

  • Ensures that the process of test case definition is high quality, aligned with industry standards and best practices, is documented, and consistent with corporate standards of internal controls and auditability.

  • Coordinates with management and staff engaged in application development/DMO/Infrastructure, coding, testing, user acceptance testing and production to ensure that QA is consistently represented and satisfied.

  • Leads the design, development and implementation of all QA efforts involving quality plans, estimates, resource assignment and status reports within time, budget and specification constraints.

  • Maintains standards and best practices within the Quality Assurance Analyst practice and ensures they are leveraged within the company.

  • Oversees Quality Assurance Analysis and Testing for complex projects spanning multiple business units.

  • Communicates consistently and effectively with internal business partners to understand appropriate need for Quality.

  • Identifies risk areas and provides alternate strategies to address concerns.

  • Ensures on-time and on-budget delivery of new and enhanced business capabilities that meet or exceed high quality expectations.

  • Participates in planning or project meetings in which the application development process is in early stages of defining test strategy, test cases and test scenarios. Ensures that QA is thoroughly and completely represented to company standards and expectations.

  • Partners with business, product and technology to manage testing for project deliveries.

  • Works with users and provides guidance to develop new quality assurance analysis procedures and to modify the existing ones.

  • Understands the impact of project on both business and technology.

  • Ensures resources have a full understanding of work effort, timelines and expectations.

  • Builds strong internal and external partnerships.

  • Builds and maintains internal client relationships.

  • Responsible for reporting risks that are identified to the appropriate team and/or management. Additionally, responsible for managing, monitoring and reporting risks within the scope of your work area, to include, but not limited to Information Security risks.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • BS in Computer Science / Computer Information Systems or equivalent degree.

  • 7-10 years previous quality assurance or analysis experience, or equivalent training and/or experience.

  • Expert technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation.

  • Good to excellent understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.

  • 1-3 years’ plus management or equivalent lead experience.

  • 1-3 years’ experience as a leader, trainer and coach.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Polished presentation skills.

  • Experience in both Agile and Waterfall software development.

  • Experience in web applications using .NET, SQL Server, HTML; JavaScript and jQuery.

  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

  • Ability to effectively interface with staff at all levels and in all areas of the organization.

  • Expert skills in leadership and customer service.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to express and document complex technical concepts in business terms.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with technical staff, non-technical staff, and end-users.

  • Ability to listen, understand, and respond to external and internal customers’ needs in a timely manner.

  • Excellent team-oriented interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional project team environment.

  • Ability to evolve into a subject-matter expert who can easily liaise between technology and other departments.
