The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Principle Scientist, are to:

  • Perform high quality and successful exposure assessments for human and ecotoxicological risk assessments;

  • Influence the strategic direction of risk assessments, reduced risk documents and other regulatory submission documents, to best represent BCS products and meet regulatory requirements;

  • Be the primary contributor to environmental safety teams comprised of key members from the scientific disciplines (environmental fate, environmental toxicology) and the exposure/risk assessors;

  • Be responsible for environmental fate strategies for important assets and supervise junior level scientist with the same responsibility;

  • Collaborate with North America and Global EnSa expert and risk assessment teams to plan higher tier studies addressing regulatory concerns, proactively identify and communicate the study needs;

  • Develop creative, novel and successful approaches for responses to regulatory authorities in the United States (EPA and states), Canada (PMRA and provinces) and Globally, as appropriate;

  • Independently interact with regulatory authorities for general compound discussions and provide input to regulatory issues to assist BCS in regulatory decisions and policies;

  • Be recognized globally as a technical expert on at least one key Environmental Safety sub-discipline (e.g., environmental transport mechanisms, exposure modeling, etc.) and addresses issues relating to this area of expertise;

  • Lead external technical groups (CLA, CLI) as BCS representative;

  • Develop contacts within scientific, academic and regulatory agencies and build a reputation as a competent and reliable partner;

  • Accurately assess and forecast the time and resources needed to complete assigned studies and projects;

  • Anticipate changes in project costs based on interpretation of current results;

  • Alert cost center and project management of significant departures (current or anticipated) from agreed forecasts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. with at least six years of experiencein exposure modeling, environmental fate, chemical engineering, environmental/soil science or related field; OR

  • M.S. with at least 10 years of experiencein exposure modeling, environmental fate, chemical engineering, environmental/soil science or related field; OR

  • B.S. with at least 12 years of experience in exposure modeling, environmental fate, chemical engineering, environmental/soil science or related field;

  • Ability to conduct multiple, complex scientific projects and can prioritize tasks in a frequently changing environment;

  • Excellent organization skills with regard to the use of experimental data and presentation of exposure assessment results;

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;

  • Ability to train less experienced scientists, mentor and develop junior staff and promote team-based approaches to BCS development programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant industry experience.
