American Express is looking for a Platform Engineer for their Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) platform. The desired candidate is a security engineer with 6 years of experience and expert knowledge in managing various security platforms. This role will serve as the lead engineer responsible for the deployment, integration, maintenance, and innovation of the Breach and Attack Simulation platform.

An ideal candidate will have extensive information security experience in both managing security tools & platforms and understanding threats & attack paths. Specific focus will be directed to understanding and integrating the BAS platform with existing security platforms, including the SIEM, EDR, Firewall, IPS and Proxy. Additionally, the candidate will have a strong understanding of common attack paths and the MITRE ATT&CK framework and be able to use that understanding to further drive the deployment of the BAS platform.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Partner with the Vendor and other Information Security teams to fully Integrate the BAS product into the existing security tech stack.

  • Lead in end-to-end management of the BAS platform and supporting infrastructure covering new deployment, maintenance, capacity planning, upgrades, backup/restores, and health and wellness.

  • Creating innovative solutions involving different technologies/products and lead research/design solutions and integrations with other security platforms including the SIEM, endpoint security platforms, and network security platforms.

  • Partner with the end users to understand use cases and drive deployment and integration strategies accordingly.

  • Provide support to end users.

  • Work closely with vendor to fix product defects, drive enhancements, and engage in customer feedback.

  • On-call support.

  • At least 1 year in a security operations role, investigating and responding to alerts.

  • At least 2 years of experience configuring, managing, and using one or more SIEM / SOAR products.

  • At least 1 year of experience configuring, managing, and using one or more Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) products.

  • At least 1 year of experience with security infrastructure and related technologies (proxies, firewalls, email filtering technologies, and network intrusion detection systems).

  • Current knowledge of security threats, solutions, security tools and network technologies.

  • Working knowledge of security operations center processes and technologies .

  • Experience with virtualized environments like VMWare or VirtualBox.

  • Experience with cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and GCP.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python, highly desired.

  • Strong work prioritization, planning, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work efficiently within a team while dealing with time sensitive deadlines or challenging people.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to clearly articulate solution alternatives.

Educational Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.

  • Information Security Certification preferred, CISSP or similar.
