Ford Motor Company’s EV Propulsion (high voltage electrified vehicle hardware) Engineering team is in the exciting and rapidly advancing area of vehicle electrification. Our organization, which is focused on delivering “Fast & Family” oriented electric vehicles, is growing and is in search of outstanding individuals to help shape the direction of our next generation EV propulsion systems. Successful applicants will work closely with various electrification departments to lead the architecture development and requirements for forthcoming products while assessing cutting edge technologies to support the roll out of a best-in-industry electrified vehicle product portfolio.

What you'll do...

  • Lead EV propulsion system development for new and year-over-year platforms/vehicle programs. This includes leading and/or assisting in EV system sizing, system selection, and owning subsystem requirement cascade

  • Lead propulsion system attribute balance trade-off studies investigating the total design space for optimal solutions.

  • Lead the propulsion system input for program milestone reviews including system definition, requirements, and capability (assessment against the requirements)

  • Manage the CAE model development of the propulsion system for accurate representation in vehicle level performance, range, and thermal simulations.

  • Lead Systems Program Attribute Team, bringing together all propulsion subsystems (HV battery, motor, inverter, gearbox, controls & calibration, etc.) to deliver system attributes.

  • Lead teams to solve vehicle propulsion systems issues and where necessary represent the propulsion system to the program.

  • Identify, develop, and present propulsion system improvements to solicit direction from management.

You'll have...

  • B.S in Engineering or related fields

  • Prior experience working with electrified systems

  • 4 years of Experience with Automotive Engineering concepts and processes

  • Understanding of EV powertrain system functionality and attributes and at subsystem and vehicle level

  • Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams and driving product development issues to resolution

  • Experience communicating technical information concisely in executive reviews

  • M.S in Engineering or related fields

  • ≥ 2 years of experience in systems engineering role

  • Knowledge of working globally across cultural and organizational borders to achieve one goal and meet targets highly preferred

  • Passion for the development and advancement of electrified vehicle technology

  • Knowledge of advanced and forward model development process

  • Knowledge of powertrain controls and calibration

  • Knowledge of powertrain testing tools, analytical and CAE tools and performance modeling

  • Knowledge of program planning, program management, powertrain component, or systems design

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills - ability to organize multiple inputs into succinct summary and manageable discussion

  • Knowledge of project life cycle management from R&D to Production

This position is a range of salary grades 7-8 .
