CommonSpirit Health Physician Advisor in Des Moines, Iowa

MercyOne is seeking a Full-time Physician Advisor. Ideal candidate will have 5 years of inpatient experience. The Physician Advisor evaluates the medical necessity and efficiency of the use of healthcare services, procedures and facilities. Essential Job Duties:

  • Identify utilization trends and work with Mercy One Leadership team when interventions are necessary.

  • Responsible for timely review of claims and determination of level of care based on medical necessity and appropriateness of care within established guidelines.

  • Manages physician-driven clinical resource utilization.

  • Provide oversight of Clinical Denials Management in collaboration with providers, care management, HIM, and Mercy One Payer Strategy Payment Compliance.

  • Encourages teamwork among physicians and multi-disciplinary care teams to ensure high quality outcome.

  • Responsible to foster positive collaborating relationships with other departments and divisions.
