Wellmark - Des Moines Lead IT Solutions Developer (Node.js / API Development) in Des Moines, Iowa

About the Career: In this role, you will lead system development and the programming for highly complex programs leveraged across the enterprise. The Enterprise Assets team is responsible for the development of new features and capabilities on widely used platforms for both internal and external stakeholders. You will serve as a subject matter expert for other Solution Developers to ensure the end product aligns with business expectations and that the development logic meets Wellmark criteria for security and standards. You will also utilize established relationships and consults with Wellmark leaders on programming and process enhancements.

Required:
- 11 years of direct and applicable experience
OR
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field of study plus 7 years of design & development experience.
Experience in:
At least one year of experience with Node.js on the backend for api development
Both SQL and no-SQL experience
Providing innovative solutions to complex issues
AND
Ability to provide innovative solutions to complex issues
Ability to mentor/coach others
Demonstrated ability to build relationships to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties
Ability to set and meet established time-frames while assuring data and information integrity
Experience prioritizing and managing time with little direction
Previous experience troubleshooting and developing creative technical solutions
Demonstrated experience in software development life cycle methodologies
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience working within an Agile team environment
Experience partnering with global staffing vendors to deliver projects
a. Lead system development and programming for highly complex programs. Coordinate the preparation, coding, testing, and debugging of complex programs including the analysis and development of work flows.
b. Implement innovative and costeffective business solutions for multiple applications and systems, utilizing information technology, business and industry trends.
c. Provide training and guidance to programmers. Possesses advanced knowledge of several programming languages, including current complex languages.
d. Analyze, develop, test, implement, document and maintain software and systems that meet Wellmarks evolving business needs.
e. Provide production support for complex research and root cause.
f. Support and adhere to Wellmark software development lifecycle SDLC, operational procedures and development and security standards by following required process.
g. Coordinate with company resources to accomplish integration of products and processes and complex solutions. Provide timely and accurate results, and exceptional customer service.
h. Provide training and mentoring on how to use new or enhanced software or applications.
i. Mentor and train Wellmark Technology staff on developing and implementing solutions.
j. Participate in project proposals, estimates and proofofconcept activities as needed.
k. Participate in industry/knowledge reference groups and organizational IT related review groups relative to position. Provide direction for enterprise standards. Conduct code reviews and monitor standard adherence.
l. Report issues and status to leader.
m. Other duties as assigned.
