Summary:

We are seeking talented engineers to join Facebook as an Internal Software Engineer for our Business Process & Technology Engineering (BP&T Eng) team. The BP&T Eng team builds analytics and software applications for the GMS organization, which enables millions of advertisers that use Facebook every day to connect with their customers and communities. You should be energized by finding patterns amid chaos, acting on and resolving issues quickly, and enjoy solving business problems through technology. Your work on this team will enable our sales and marketing teams to help our customers grow their business through tools and automation.

Required Skills:

  1. Provide guidance on architecture and design, and define processes for launching solutions and features, solving some of the hardest problems by using efficient and maintainable design patterns

  2. Build software in the Facebook stack using primarily Hack (PHP), React (JavaScript) and Python, seeking out ways to improve the components or systems you work on to facilitate easier development of new features

  3. Leverage your technical knowledge to constantly raise the bar of quality across our software portfolio to drive meaningful business impact by looking at problems through an operational lens

  4. Participate in, and guide critical technical, design, and product discussions with influencers across the organization and company

  5. Proactively influence and build relationships across XFN partners to work on the most vital projects and help inspire new directions

  6. Be an expert with end-to end understanding, owning the scope of multiple large-scale projects with successful execution

  7. Identify issues slowing the team down and driving changes to address them. Proactively identify gaps and create solutions that enable successful projects across the team

  8. Coach and develop a growing team of engineers, by guiding teammates with vision setting, system design and professional development

  9. Be self-directed and drive towards resolutions requiring little additional guidance

  10. Invest in skill development, learning new technologies and professional growth

  11. Proactively seek out feedback for areas of improvement along with providing constructive feedback to peers, management, and cross-functional teams

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 6+ years of full stack experience on Hack (PHP), React (JavaScript), Python, and similar technologies.

  2. B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience.

  3. A natural teacher of engineering best practices, and a culture carrier for the team.

  4. Experience with high-level performance optimization and troubleshooting bottlenecks.

  5. Drive technical projects and provide leadership direction in an innovative and fast-paced environment.

  6. Experience discussing system design and trade offs between approaches.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Software engineering experience in React, GraphQL, Relay or similar.

  2. Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
