Dart Information Technology Network Administrator in Des Moines, Iowa

Position Summary:

The Network Administrator's role is to ensure the stable operation of DART’s network and security. This individual is responsible for effective provisioning, installation & configuration, operation, and maintenance of corporate networks, systems, hardware, software, communication links, and related infrastructure. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems and provide end user training when required.

Essential Functions of this Position:

  • Management of multi-site networking and firewall topology, equipment, and configuration to prevent unauthorized access while ensuring efficient transmission

  • Serve as primary support for the network storage system, network equipment, and virtual infrastructure environment, including verifying backups, LUN utilization, and network equipment performance and configuration

  • Actively improve DART’s security posture through the use of firewalls, IPS, Anti-Virus, and other security measures

  • Perform log management and monitoring

  • Provide network architect support in the form of infrastructure assessments of agency LANs and WANs; creation of logical and conceptual network diagrams; monitoring, analysis, problem resolution, and changes

  • Assist in project implementations, upgrades or support of new or existing software or hardware

  • Aid in providing PCI, HIPAA, and other security measures best practices

  • Plan, schedule and implement access through the firewalls in conformance with security standards and best practices

  • Monitoring of system stability, availability and performance. Ensuring 24x7x365 operation of internal systems and connectivity

Additional Responsibilities of this Position:

  • Provide direct support for technology end users, and track resolution of their technology requests using DART’s central ticketing system

  • Maintain technical documentation of the environment

  • Work with stakeholders to identify business needs, and develop technological solutions to meet those needs

  • Assist with the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals

  • Participate in monthly patching weekends and after hours support as requested

  • Participate in a 24x7 on call rotation with fellow IT staff members

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited university or college with major coursework in Computer Science or Management Information Systems OR equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

  • Three (3) years of network administration equivalent experience in a primarily Cisco, Windows and VMware environment

  • One (1) year of Netapp Ontap storage management or enterprise storage experience preferred

  • Cisco CCNA strongly preferred

  • Netapp, Microsoft, VMware or other technical certs preferred
