Use your strengths as Health Services Data Strategy & Reporting Specialist

In this newly created role, you will develop and manage the control and monitoring reporting for Wellmark’s Health Services department. This includes leading the design, validation, maintenance, and upgrades of control and monitoring reports in collaboration with leader and team members. You will manage and distribute internal dashboards; develop knowledge of Health Services programs and system (JIVA) workflows to identify reporting strategies; and serve as the primary contact between Health Services leaders and the business analytics team to facilitate implementation of control and monitoring reporting – e.g., changes, upgrades, data management, and ad hoc reporting requests. You will also be responsible for the control and monitoring policies, procedures, work instructions, and data management procedures (playbook).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience.

  • 4+ years of work experience that reflects:

  • Working with or administering databases – e.g. design, development/function, database and extract maintenance, developing and using reports and test plans to ensure data integrity.

  • Experience writing reports and complex database queries.

  • Proficiency with Excel, Business Objects, Power BI, etc. Ability to quickly learn new analysis tools and software applications.

  • Ability to prepare strategic and departmental dashboards for business modeling and metrics reporting.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical information or solutions to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills to:

  • Serve as control and monitoring SME on cross-functional teams;

  • Analyze and problem solve data gaps/discrepancies;

  • Recommend strategies for monitoring business enhancements.

  • Researches, identifies, evaluates, and recommends leading practices related to reporting and performance monitoring.

  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders, decision-makers, and internal staff based on competence, trust, and mutual respect.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently manage multiple activities or projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience with health data and informatics, including but not limited to, medical coding, HIPAA compliance, and quality measurement

  • Ability to use and apply performance management and quality improvement concepts and tools.

  • Experience monitoring processes and delivery of results.

a. Monitor and summarize control and monitoring reporting strategies. Create analyses and develop key insights on daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis for various stakeholders to build the business, recognize business needs, support workflows, and provide oversight of tasks, goals, and assignments.

b. Apply knowledge and experience with health services programming and/or control and monitoring reporting by leading the design, development, and maintenance of reports and extracts. Research and apply leading practices for reporting and performance monitoring.

c. Work with leaders to optimize measures and analysis develop new reporting strategies for care teams and other Health Services enhancements. Assist business analysts with informatics and technical issues in data warehouse and report structure.

d. Keep up-to-date and informed regarding JIVA system changes and database enhancements apply new information to control and monitoring reporting and communicate changes to staff as appropriate. Work collaboratively with Business Analysts and Team Leaders.

e. Proactively collaborate with leadership regarding the acceptance, resolution and impact on all reports and metrics regarding JIVA data. Actively engage with leadership on department strategic reporting and assist leaders with understanding system capabilities for staff productivity and caseload reports.

f. Conduct quality review of control and monitoring reports to ensure accuracy and governance standards. Develop and maintain strategies to monitor data quality, tracking results and trends, and communicate results to appropriate staff. May provide coaching and/or mentoring to individuals within the business when frequent data anomalies are identified.

g. Develop, maintain, and implement control and monitoring policies and procedures. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation. Implement the Control and Monitoring Playbook.

h. Collaborate with leader and other staff to integrate and align control and monitoring reporting with Health Services performance framework, adapt control and monitoring reports for external stakeholders, and support performance, program and business metrics.

i. Other duties as assigned.
